Matt Cox has been involved in volleyball since his high school years in Tucson, Arizona, where he earned all-region honors as an outside hitter. He continued competing on the University of Arizona Men’s Club Volleyball team, which achieved a 5th-place finish at Nationals. His deep connection to the sport led him to coaching, where he spent seven years developing high school volleyball programs before advancing to three seasons at the collegiate level.
After stepping away from volleyball to focus on marriage and starting a family, Matt returned to the sport with renewed purpose in the fall of 2024, when he became an IHSA-certified volleyball official. His commitment to year-round officiating reflects his dedication to continuous improvement and professional development within the officiating community.
Matt brings a unique perspective to officiating, combining his extensive playing background with coaching experience across multiple competitive levels.
