Darren Reese has been a dedicated volleyball official since 1993, bringing over three decades of comprehensive experience across all levels of the sport. His officiating journey began in sand and indoor adult leagues from 1993 to 2005, while simultaneously serving as a USAV coach for Side Out Volleyball Association from 1993 to 1995.
Since 1994, Darren has maintained his IHSA certification and achieved a national USAV official rating, demonstrating his commitment to excellence at both high school and club levels. His expertise expanded to collegiate competition as an NCAA/NAIA/NJACC official from 1995 to 2015, before advancing to state-level assignments as a PAVO/NCAA/NAIA/NJACC state official from 2016 to present.
Darren’s leadership extends beyond the court through significant administrative roles. He served on the 2023-24 Great Lakes Region Officials Representative Board and held the position of Assistant Chairman for the PAVO Northern Illinois Officials Board from 2022 to 2025. In 2025, he advanced to Chairman of the PAVO Northern Illinois Officials Board and was elected Vice President of NFOA/IHSA.
His officiating career reached its pinnacle in December 2024 when he served as the R2 official for the NCAA/NAIA National Championship match, marking the culmination of his distinguished service to collegiate volleyball. Darren continues to contribute to the development and integrity of volleyball officiating at all levels.
