Recently, I had the opportunity to participate in the Business Development Rep Assessment Centre, and the feedback was both enlightening and motivating. I scored highly in Communication, Planning & Organization, and Bravery, reinforcing my strengths in leadership, strategic thinking, and execution. However, areas for development included Teamwork, Collaboration, Interpersonal Skills, and Written Communication, prompting me to reflect on actionable ways to grow both personally and professionally.
Leveraging Strengths for Success
Recognizing my strengths in communication and planning, I aim to apply them more effectively in corporate training, account management, and professional development. These skills allow me to present ideas, organize efficient workflows, and take bold actions when necessary. Moving forward, I plan to:
- Utilize my communication skills to facilitate engaging training sessions.
- Apply strategic planning to improve account management efficiency.
- Showcase bravery by taking on leadership roles in networking and client-facing opportunities.
Addressing Growth Areas for Professional Development
While I take pride in my strengths, I recognize the importance of improving teamwork, collaboration, and written communication to become a more well-rounded professional. To actively develop these areas, I plan to:
1. Strengthen Teamwork & Collaboration
- Join Networking Groups: Engaging with professional organizations to practice collaboration in real-world settings.
- Seek Constructive Feedback: Learning from mentors and colleagues about how I contribute to team dynamics.
- Participate in Role-Play Scenarios: Simulating business challenges to improve group problem-solving and interpersonal effectiveness.
2. Enhance Written Communication
- Write Daily: Summarizing key takeaways from meetings and training sessions.
- Follow Structured Templates: Utilizing frameworks for emails, proposals, and reports to enhance clarity.
- Take Online Courses: Enroll in business writing courses through platforms like Coursera and LinkedIn Learning.
3. Apply Growth in Interviews & Work Settings
- Highlight Development Areas: Demonstrating awareness and improvement when discussing teamwork and communication.
- Use STAR Responses: Showcasing my experiences through Situation, Task, Action, and Result methodology.
- Request Ongoing Feedback: Continuously refining my approach through mentor and peer reviews.
